Training overview

Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire Joint LSCB Training Unit are pleased to welcome our colleagues in Luton to the newly formed, Pan Bedfordshire LSCB Training Unit from April 1st 2016.
Our booking system is open to Luton Borough staff and Luton external children’s workforce organisations immediately so that you can start to book yourself/staff on to events that take place from April onward.  We have an electronic booking system called CPD Online.  It can be accessed at  You can go in a have a look around; the purple channel is the place to go for LSCB specific learning activity.  Here, you will be able to access 35 free of charge online courses (charge applicable for non completion) and a range of safeguarding multi agency learning activity to meet the needs of individual workers.  The charge rate for courses is £75.00 per day. Some Agencies pre-purchase which means that you or your setting will not be invoiced directly.  We reserve the right to charge the full course fee for non attendance – details are clearly set out in the Terms and Conditions.
Please ensure you read the terms and conditions relating to charging.  We also hold a termly free of charge event for all workers to update on messages from local and national perspectives and hold free themed large scale briefing events.  Events will be held at Luton, Dunstable, Central Bedfordshire and Bedford venues and you are very welcome to book for any course at any venue.   
A key event that is free of charge is the Spring Half Day Update Briefing on 28th April at The Leagrave Centre and the Forest Centre, Marston Moretaine for all practitioners.  The particular focus will be VULNERABLE PARENTS to include, how parental vulnerabilities impact on parenting capacity. Messages from local audit and recent national and local SCRs will be incorporated into the content.  The Practice Briefings will provide a multi-agency forum so that good practice, experience and ideas can be shared and implications for future practice explored.  Book your place now. These briefings will run termly on a variety of themes for the 2016-17 year.
If you have booked a place for any Bedford /Central Beds LSCB Training events previously then you only have to log in to book a place on any of the courses on offer.   Don’t worry if you have forgotten your Password it is easy to get a reminder.
If you haven’t booked via centralbedscpd before then you will need to register to create your profile and then you can book.
You will receive a prompt acknowledgement of your application and your place will be confirmed at least 6 weeks before the course date.  We reserve the right to create the best inter agency mix so first come will not necessarily be first served but its always worth booking a place early.
There are currently places available for the Core Groups and Responsibilities half day course at Wrest Park Silsoe on 26th April, the one day Impact of Parental Mental Illness course at The Forest Centre on 27th April and the one day Safeguarding Disabled Children course on 4th May also at The Forest Centre.
